No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Introduction.
Introduction.
Life as we know it is either controlled by a supernatural God or it is random. The Bible teaches us that every detail is controlled.
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
We know that we are not in control of our lives, we are simply acting out our part in God’s Great Symphony.
“The new year, I don’t know what it holds, but I know He holds it. That’s the hopes of new year I have. If He comes, Amen. If He doesn’t come, I’ll still be working if He spares me.
I just trust the future to Him. I don’t know what it is, I just trust it to Him. You’ve seen Him a-vindicate His Word, so you know it’s going to be done. His Word!
You say, “Brother Branham, how do you get that?” Well, let me give some thought here just a minute. Do you know what a symphony is? I know you do. It’s a music, it’s a drama. See, they act it out.”
(Peter and the Wolf)
Now to you adults, the Scripture is God’s Symphony. Yes. Hallelujah! Only the Composer knows what it really means and He reveals it to those who are listening, who are interested in knowing what the drama is.
But you’d have to know about a symphony first, see. It’s not just something you see, it’s the changing, the junctions of the Word, of the music. It throws; sometime it’s going this way for a while, a certain beat, after a while it changes all around.
What is it? To you who wouldn’t understand It or don’t know nothing about It, not interested in It, it’s just a racket, it’s a fuss. But to those who know about It, they’re watching for It, they know It’s coming. Hallelujah!
So we have these times of Symphonies, of the Symphony of God’s Word, that the whole drama changes. You who are interested, listen for that change. You know it’s getting close.
You hear the way the drums are beating, amen, want something to happen. You know this is a change, see, it’s going to break out into a burst in a few minutes.
And you’re watching for it, you can tell the way the drums are timing. O God! If you can hear the drums of the finish now, if you can hear the echo of the music of the Heavenly Word singing Itself out, “And it shall come to pass in the last days!”
The Symphony of God’s great drama that He’s playing, It changes Him, His Symphony at the junction. The composer and those who are interested, listen for the change. That’s what all this stuff is to us, we’re listening, we’re watching. Every time He appears, something happens, we see the time getting close.
Remember, the Composer knows the end from the beginning. He knows all about it, that’s the reason He could write it here. Correctly. Now you must begin with Him, you must begin.
If you want to hear a Symphony, you begin with Him like in the music at the Symphony. You listen, you know what it says, it’s going to be what the Symphony is, then you begin to listen at the music. And you know what it is, so you know just about, “Here’s where certain-certain things take place, now it’s got to change.”
Now, to anybody else that don’t know nothing about what they’re…just walked in and set down, it’s just a bunch of nonsense, rattling noise. But the one who knows what it is, it’s beat out with the music, drummed out with the notes, it’s trumpeted with the trumpets, it’s strung on the harp, it’s played with the violin, it’s beat on the bass, it’s sounded by the trumpets, it’s beat on the drums.
The whole thing together in rhythm, and it makes the drama till you can close your eyes and live in it. Hallelujah! 64-0112 - Shalom
1. Who is the Composer?
a. The Creator of the Music.
Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, And meted out heaven with the span, And comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, And weighed the mountains in scales, And the hills in a balance?
Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, Or being his counseller hath taught him?
With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, And taught him in the path of judgment, And taught him knowledge, And shewed to him the way of understanding?
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, And are counted as the small dust of the balance: Behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, Nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
All nations before him are as nothing; And they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
To whom then will ye liken God? Or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
The workman melteth a graven image, And the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, And casteth silver chains.
He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; He seeketh unto him a cunning workman To prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? Hath it not been told you from the beginning? Have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, And the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; That stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, And spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
That bringeth the princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
Yea, they shall not be planted; Yea, they shall not be sown: Yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: And he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, And the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high, And behold who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names By the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; Not one faileth.
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, And my judgment is passed over from my God?
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, That the everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; And to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings as eagles; They shall run, and not be weary; And they shall walk, and not faint.
b. The Conductor of the Music
Most importantly a conductor serves as a messenger for the composer. It is their responsibility to understand the music and convey it through gesture so transparently that the musicians in the orchestra understand it perfectly.
Those musicians can then transmit a unified vision of the music out to the audience.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
It’s just like the mainspring in a famous watch. When that mainspring sets in the middle of the watch, it controls every movement of that watch.
You see, if the Holy Spirit is in the middle of your spirit…And that watch spring makes all the rest of the movements just tick just exactly to the place, keeping perfect time.
When the Holy Spirit is in the middle of your spirit, it makes every action of the Holy Spirit in you tick off just exactly according to God’s Timepiece, the Bible. Right.
Now, it’s the main spring that does it. It’s the Holy Spirit that does it. It isn’t your church that does it. It isn’t your pastor that does it. It isn’t your shouting that does it. It isn’t your speaking with tongues that does it. It isn’t your healing service that does it.
It’s the Holy Spirit that does it, God’s Holy Spirit in the middle of your new spirit. It makes the whole Church operate, just exactly one big bundle of love. 57-0303A - Why Is It That So Many Christians Find It So Hard To Live The Christian Life?
2. What Are His Responsibilities?
a. Chooses the Time and Place.
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
76 For you’re a gene of your father, and you were in your father, yet your father had no fellowship with you because he…You was in there, but you knew it not and he knew it not, but you was manifested that he might fellowship with you.
And you being born again, you’re born of Eternal Life. And that’s the only one form of Eternal Life, and that’s God’s Life. Zoe, the Greek word is Zoe, only one form of Eternal Life.
77 Then if you are a son of God or a daughter of God, you were in God all the time. But He knew what bed and time that you’d be planted.
So now you’re made a creature, a son of God, manifested son or daughter of God to meet the challenge of this hour to vindicate the true and living God of this hour, the Message that’s coming forth in this time. 65-1206 - Modern Events Are Made Clear By Prophecy
b. Chooses the Instruments and the Musicians.
Now you’re expressed, after His Word has come in you, to Light up this age, you are the expressing: God’s Life in you, because you are a son or a daughter of God.
You are now made, you’re setting in this church, tonight, because your duty is to express God to this nation and this people, and this neighborhood where you associate.
Wherever you are, God knew that you would be here, because you have to be one of His genes, or His attributes. You had to be. If you ever, if you’ve got Eternal Life, then It always was Eternal Life. And God, before there was a foundation, world, knew that you would be here.
I don’t hardly understand that how that we could think that a God that could prepare all these good things for us would not…we could not put trust in Him.
That, if He brought us in this chaos that we’re in now, and prepared the good things of life for us here, how much more can we trust Him to prepare the things that is to come, see, the Eternal things! 65-1205 - Things That Are To Be
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
37 Therefore, the Bride, in the Rapture, will come forth. And there is all pre-planned by God, all backed up. From the beginning, He knowed every man, every place, who would set, all about it. It’s all pre-planned.
God knew it would be here. And when…He made it that way, so that when we get there…He’s gone to prepare a place for us. And when we get there, it’ll all be prepared just like even this night is prepared, like this hour is prepared. 65-1205 - Things That Are To Be
Lift not up your horn on high: Speak not with a stiff neck.
For promotion cometh neither from the east, Nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.
Christians are not revolutionaries.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
This doesn’t make you a slave, but it makes you realize that God is in control.
The Conducter/Composer Influences Every Moment of the Symphony
3. How Does He Conduct?
a. By the Written Music
NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.
62 Now, then, you find a person get up there and say, “Now, that was for the apostolic age.” That, now, right quick, if you have received the Holy Spirit, you’ve been endowed with that sense. It sets it off. There is something wrong there.
They try to explain it away, that it’s for another day, that really you don’t need those things today. But Jesus said, “These signs shall follow them that believe.” See, there is a little something sets off in you, a little buzzer, in knowing that that’s wrong and that’s the way of death.
63 Cause, Jesus said, “If we add one word to This, or take one Word from It, our part is taken out of the Book of Life.” See, not one Scripture. We must take It just the way It’s written. And God watches over His Word, to perform It, and we know that It’s got to be just right.
64 So therefore, no matter what a church would say, what anyone else would say, if you’re born of the Spirit of God, you become part of the Bible. God told Ezekiel, he, the prophet.
He said, “Take the scroll and eat it,” then the prophet and the scroll became part of each other. And that’s the believer when he receives the Holy Spirit; the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible, and the Spirit of God is the Word of God. 65-0919 - Thirst
b. By His Presence and Movement
The Composer/Conductor is present in the room.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Pentecost was the first time they felt His presence.
If you feel His Presence, go to Him.
63-0724 - God Doesn't Call Man To Judgment Without First Warning Him
A man that believes in God, can see the Presence of God, feel the Presence of God, sense the Presence of God, and know He’s here. He is here to answer everything that He made promise for in this day. 64-0206E - God's Provided Way For This Day
54 Oh, the greatest pleasure I know of, is to be to pray until I can realize that I’m in the Presence of God, and recognize it. I think that ought to be the thrill of the Church, is the Presence of the Holy Spirit;
seeing the God that made the promise standing among us, feel His Presence and see His Word, and see It vindicated. It ought to give faith, to make cripples walk, blind see, deaf hear, dumb speak. 64-0618 - The Presence Of God Unrecognized
